Edwin Ortiz y Su
Orquesta La Romana is known for pioneering SALSA music in the
Washington, DC Metro area.
Established in 1983, the band had an initial 3 year run prior to a
break up in 1986. Re-established in 1988, Orquesta La
Romana has been providing classic salsa sounds to the area ever
since. With its' 20+ year history, Orquesta La Romana is
now a high-torque salsa machine honoring classic salsa numbers with
fresh, feisty arrangements that exude the spirit of exploration that
once defined the golden age of salsa. Known in salsa music
circles as the go to band to accompany artists coming to the DC
area, the band has accompanied international sensations such as
Jerry Rivera, Frankie Vazquez, Cano Estremera and Lalo Rodriguez to
name a few. In 2004, Orquesta La Romana recorded its'
first CD titled Edwin Ortiz y su Orquesta La Romana, Ya Llego.
A local success at the time, the CD is currently getting more
national and international attention for its' arrangement of Ismael
Quintana's hit Mi Debilidad. Recently, the tune reach
top 10 status in Colombia and was a featured #1 hit on many national
and international salsa blogs.
The success of the
band and its' staying power is primarily due to staying true to the
core of salsa music. Respect for "La Clave" and playing music
for the dancing public. If you're ever in the DC Metro area
and want to experience the best salsa this side of New York City,
please come to one of our events. Thanks for stopping by !!!!
